Overview
Camp Ape had the chance to create an editorial piece for Evangel University that felt less like a standard alumni publication and more like something people would actually want to hold onto. The project centered on shaping a student-focused issue through art direction, illustration, and editorial layout that felt fresh, memorable, and rooted in the school’s story. From the cover to the interior spreads, the goal was to make something that stood apart from template-driven college design and felt built with real character.

The Challenge
we focused on creating a refined issue for the evangel university alumni magazine: modern cover: we spiced up the front with playful geometric shapes and icons that tip a hat to its roots. inside layouts: taking inspo from a topp's trading card, we did our very best to curate layouts that represented each student in this student edition.
The Solution
Client Testimonial: "andrew is a talented artist and designer who brought our university's alumni magazine to life with hand-drawn illustrations that added the depth, dimension, and creativity we needed to elevate our content and attract the attention of our readers. the magazine cover he designed was so unique and eye-catching that we made it into a t-shirt and sold it across campus. looking for designs and illustrations that stand out from the noise in a world of canva-filled templates? andrew is your guy. And bonus points for being a really genuine and kind human.."
